The UK CES is an organization that strives to bring education and research findings from the land grant universities to the people who need it the most in the rural communities.  Agriculture and Natural Resources, Family and Consumer Sciences, 4-H/Youth Development, Community Development, and Health and Wellness are the major focus areas.

Agriculture and Natural Resource Agents focus on farmers and Agri-business, FCS Agents focus on family, health, and nutrition, and most counties have 4-H Agents that focus on youth programs.  Some counties, such as Edmonson, have only two agents, FCS and Ag, so they share 4-H responsibilities.

The services provided by the Extension Service include for Agriculture:  Soil testing, plant disease, plant identification, feed analysis, ration balancing, farm management and planning help, AGri-business, and many others.  FCS offers help with nutrition, family resources, cooking recipes, homemakers, health and wellness, etc.  4-H offers the summer camp program, clubs (after school, etc.), safety for children, projects of many different types, leadership skills training and more.
